Some Special Festivals

  • On every Sunday, there is Palakhi procession of Shree Mahalasa at 5.45 p.m.
  • On every Panchami, there is Palakhi procession of Shree Santeri at 5.45 p.m.
  • On every Ekadashi day Shree Vithobalankar Pooja is offered to Shree Mahalasa.
  • If any Sunday or any Panchami falls on a day of any special Vahanotsava, the Palakhi Utsava is replaced by that Vahanotsava.
  • If a Sunday and a Panchami falls on the same day, the Palakhi procession of Shree Santeri leaves out first. Shree Mahalasa Palakhi leaves later so as to join Shree Santeri Palakhi when it arrives in front of Shree Mahalasa Temple. The joint procession proceeds further till Shree Santeri Palakhi completes its round at that temple. Thereafter Shree Mahalasa Palakhi proceeds further on its round. This is a rare exciting memorable occasion to witness.
  • On second and fourth Sunday of Shravana, Suvarna Mahalasalankar Pooja is performed (if it is not Ekadashi day).
  • The Palakhi procession on all Sundays during the month of Shravana, Navaratra Utsava and Magh Jatrotsava is taken out in Suvarna Shibika.
  • Palakhi Utsava of Permanent Seva of Shree Mahalasa from Monday to Sunday will be on weekend Sunday.
  • Palakhi Utsava of Permanent Seva of Shree Santeri from Shasti to Panchami will be on end Panchami of the fornight
  • On all Sundays of Shravana, Shree Mahalasa, the Panchisthas and Shree Sinha Purush are offered Ranga Pooja.
  • During Navaratra, Makharotsava of Shree Mahalasa is performed on the Chowk in the evening after the Kirtan. On each day the Deity is seated on a different Vahana.
  • On the day of Mula Nakshatra, during Navaratra, three idols, one of them with Suvarna Mukha, are seated in the Makhara. On Shuddha Navami, five idols are seated in the Makhar.
  • In the Makharotsava Seva, Aratis are performed while the Makhar is swayed in three directions at the rhythmic accompaniment of Pancha Vadya including Shahanai. The Aratis last for about an hour for first three days and this time gradually increases upto 2.30 hours on Shuddha Navami with the increase in the number of Aratis.
  • From Ashwin Pournima to Kartik Pournima, Kakad Aratis are performed at dawn followed by Hari Jagar at 9.00 a.m.
  • On Shuddha Saptami of Magha, the Deity is adorned with a pearly Bashing during the Gudhi Rathotsava.
